National Karate Academies was founded in South Australia in July 1993 by Professor Steve Miranda. It is currently the largest, and one of the most professionally operated, martial arts organisations in that state. In 2008 the first interstate club opened in the New South Wales township of Murrumbateman, with a further interstate club opening in early 2009, in the Canberra suburb of Gungahlin.

National Karate Academies is very proud of all the instructors who have made this success possible.

It is hoped that eventually, National Karate Academies clubs will be accessible throughout other states, as instructors move to new areas.
